The Tarhandtula

After a scientist spilled a chemical concoction on his hand during an experiment with Spider DNA, his hand gained new life, sprouting new finger-like limbs and taking on spider characteristics. Fearful of the arachnid-like hand, he cut it off, only for it to survive being severed from his arm. It now sits in the lab inside a terrarium, where it is studied.
